Starting 2014 off with a bang :)

Thanks to my parents we were able to get a TON of stuff done at the new house, and I feel much better about getting it to where we want it for move in, in a month. The biggest accomplishment was finally finishing up the cabinets. We were able to get the final pieces of hardware on this morning and Ryan got the doors up. I am ecstatic about how much better they look. It was a massive undertaking, but so worth it!!!
The 'before' and 'after'

My dad also got some of the bigger paint jobs knocked out. I went with a green for the living room. These pictures really don't show the shade of green all that well, but it's gorgeous! While he was rolling out the walls I got the wood trim primed and it made the green pop even more. We've also decided to paint the ginormous window and fireplace mantel white. Our original plan was to stain them, but my Dad noted that it was going to take some SERIOUS work to get the mantel down to the bare wood in order to stain. . .and time is not exactly on our side right now. I'll be thrilled to get the trim actually painted this week, and those 2 projects primed so we can get the full picture of what the room is going to look like.

UGH, I wish you could see what the green really looks like. . .I'll take pics with my real camera when its all done.

We also got the guest bedroom/office painted. I chose a khaki color for these walls since the decor in this room will be chocolate brown and orange. Again, the picture makes the color a bit hard to see, but it looks good. Will look even better with the white trim.

My mom went to town cleaning today which was a huge help! I lost count on how many times she mopped the floors, but the hardwood is looking great! It really is amazing how much dirt can build up over the years, even if things appear to be clean.

The hardwood looking like new.
I was also able to get all the wood trim and doors in our bedroom primed today which makes the space so much brighter and bigger! And Ryan installed a recess light in our new kitchen.

Not a bad start to 2014. . .not bad at all :)
